Lip wrinkles and lines are a natural part of the aging process. Lip wrinkles can be anywhere form small lines that run vertically on top of the upper lip or there may be lines at the corner of the mouth that droop. The skin that surrounds the lips is just as thin and sensitive as the skin around our eyes. As you age you loose collagen and this causes you skin to not have as much elasticity so it can no longer just spring back into the regular appearance and smoothness.
Habitual and repetitive movements of the muscles around the lips can cause severe wrinkles. This can be from smoking for a long time. When smoking you are utilizing the particularism oris muscle too much and wrinkles will appear. Not only will this cause damage when you smoke but the smoke itself can be damaging. It dehydrates the skin and bombards it with toxins. There are other habits they can cause the muscles around the lips to get over use such as constantly using a straw or drinking from a bottle of water. Any muscle movement that is done over and over with the muscles being constricted can make wrinkles appear.
Exposure to the sun can cause a great deal of damage to your skin including lip wrinkles. Lips are especially susceptible to the sun’s damage because it does not have a great deal of melanin. Melanin acts as the front barrier between your skin and the sun. Rays from the sun and tanning beds, both UVA and UVB, rob your lips of collagen. Exposure to other things can also cause lip wrinkles. Even lipstick if word to regularly can cause lip wrinkles because the constant exposer of the lips to the waxes that let the color stick to your skin can be damaging. Also the petroleum in them actually causes your lips to lose moisture and makes you lips reliant on the fake moisture they provide. If they are used for too long the lips can actually stop producing moisture on their own.
There is a genetic factor that plays in to what make lip wrinkles happen. Those who have inherited lips that are thick will be able to go longer with out wrinkle developing. On the other hand thin lips are more likely to get wrinkles because they are more easily effected by aging and gravity. Fuller lips keep the lips plumped up and the skin sighter longer which help to prevent wrinkles.
Loosing teeth can lead to lip wrinkle around the mouth because the jaw and muscles around it are needed to make the shape of the fave. Teeth being gone can cause your skin to fall into your mouth and make wrinkles. Also bones that are fall apart due to gum disease give your lips little support which will also result in severe wrinkles.
