Wrinkles on Upper Lip

Wrinkles on upper lip are the most common place for the development of the wrinkles around the mouth. There are several reasons behind the development of the wrinkles in this particular part of the face, including: some sleeping positions, repetitive facial expressions, face exercises, and smoking.

Some sleeping positions may cause the development of the wrinkles on upper lip, as well as wrinkles on some other parts of the face and the neck. For example, people who sleep on their side can develop wrinkles on their chin, cheeks, and the rest of their face. People who sleep face down can develop wrinkles on their forehead, and the rest of their face. Sleeping on your back does not result in the development of wrinkles on the face and the neck, and that’s why you may want to try to switch to sleeping on your back.

Repetitive facial expressions are something that we all do, as we all smile and frown (and show the rest of our emotions) a similar way each time. What can be done in this case? First of all, avoid following the old folk remedy – doing facial exercises to help lip wrinkles. Facial exercises will, on the contrary, make matters worse. Such exercises will make your face develop deeper groves and lines on the places where they appear at the time of the “exercises”. There will come a time when these lines will start to always show, even when your face is relaxed.

If you look at the pictures of some of the suggested facial exercises (scrunching your facial muscles, opening your mouth wide, etc.), you will see that these exercises particularly make the upper lip and the areas around the mouth to show deep lines. These lines are caused by the grooves that are repeatedly formed at the time of each “exercise”. In order to avoid the progression of the wrinkles around your mouth, you should avoid doing the old folk remedy – facial exercises.

Smoking is yet another culprit of the development of the wrinkles on upper lip. Not only does the cigarette smoke poison our body and our skin, but the inhaling and the exhaling of the smoke also makes your mouth to repeatedly form wrinkles around it. Quitting smoking is something that you may want to try, in case you are bothered by the wrinkles around your mouth.

Thus, there are certain things that can be done in order to improve the state of your skin abound the mouth, including: sleeping on your back, avoiding face exercises, and quitting smoking.
